Details of Disappearance

Price was last seen at approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 4, 2004, after his brother dropped him off at his condominium in the vicinity of the 100 block of Lanai Village in Diamondhead, Mississippi. He has never been heard from again. All of his personal belongings, including his two cars, were left behind.

Price's loved ones stated he was in good mental condition at the time of his disappearance. They believe he may have met with foul play. There was a small spot of blood found in the bathroom after his disappearance, but it is unclear whether it has anything to do with his case.

Price wrote two checks totaling $3,000 to the same person on the day he went missing; it is unknown whether the transaction had anything to do with his disappearance. Investigators have a suspect in his case, but there is insufficient evidence to bring charges. Price is a World War II veteran. His disappearance remains unsolved and he is presumed deceased.

Investigators Still Searching For Clues In Year Old Missing Case

03/28/05

It's been more than a year now since a Diamondhead man disappeared. The family of 79-year-old Floyd Price has given up hope of seeing him alive.

Price vanished in February of last year and Sheriff's officials say they have very few clues in the case.

It's the thought of never knowing what happened that troubles his family the most.

"There's a lot of family that really love Floyd a great deal," J.C. Price said.

J.C. Price treasures a homemade tribute to his older brother Floyd. Relatives gathered the photos and mementos on a poster board to share at a family reunion.

"I think he would have been amazed. He would have been overwhelmed."

The photos on the poster may be the only memories left. Floyd Price has been missing for past 13 months and his brother J.C. has given up hope of ever seeing him alive again.

"I'm convinced he was murdered. His body was taken somewhere and hidden."

Price was last seen February 4, 2004 at his Laini Village Condo in Diamondhead. That's the night his younger brother says he dropped him off there.

"He and I had both gone to a VFW meeting at the country club, which is less than a quarter of a mile from his condo, and then I came home."

Price says when no one heard from Floyd the next day, they knew something was wrong.

"He was in good shape mentally. I knew his routine so well."

Floyd Price left all of his belongings and two cars behind. His brother is convinced the disappearance is some how linked to money.

"He had written two checks the day he disappeared to one fellow. He had written the checks for $3,000 to this person."

Investigators have checked out many clues, including those checks.

"We do have a suspect that we've been looking at, but until we find him or find a body, we have nothing at this time," Hancock County's Chief Investigator Kenny Hurt said.

The FBI confirmed that Price had written the checks. But beyond that, the FBI, the Sheriff's Department and the family's private investigator have found few answers for Floyd Price's family.

"One of these days, it's going to be resolved," J.C. Price said.

A $10,000 reward is being offered by Price's family to anyone who can lead authorities to the person responsible for his disappearance. If you know anything about the case, please call the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at (228) 467-5101.

Floyd is now on Project Jason's 18 Wheel Angel campaign. A special poster has been made for him and can be downloaded and printed for placement. More information about the program, and the link for the poster can be found here:

http://projectjason.org/18wheel.shtml

In addition to the campaign, Floyd is also featured in a national trucking publication, either Through the Gears or Independent Contractor. These free magazines are distributed in truck stops nationwide and have a circulation of about 150,000.

Through the Gears and Independent Contractor are two of Target Media Partner's many publications. In partnership with Project Jason, they each feature two missing persons each per month. You can pick up your free copies at a local truck stop, but if it's far from you, you may want to call and ask if they carry that magazine. These are NOT with the regular for purchase magazines.

You can also see the current campaign information on this Target Media Partners site: http://www.thetrucker.com/Features/Missing_Week_3.aspx

We hope this helps in the search for Floyd. Please consider printing and placing a poster in businesses in your community.

Thank you.

Tammy wrote this story about her "Papa":

Where are you, Papa?

When I was little I was Papa's shadow. Whenever we were at Nana & Papa's I went with him everywhere he went. Papa taught me to just be myself and never to put on airs. He always made me laugh. I remember riding in his pickup and Papa would shift gears on the floorboard and he would "accidentally" get my knee instead. He would say "OOPS" and start tickling my knee until my Nana would tell him to stop, because she was afraid I would fall off the seat from laughing so hard.

Papa used to raise and sell American Quarter Horses. He loves horses and all kinds of animals. Because of him I have a great love of animals too.

My Papa has always been my hero. He has always been there for me. Now it is my turn to be there for him. I have not heard from or seen Papa for 4 years. He disappeared 11 months and 1 day after Nana passed away. I felt like my world was taken away when I lost Nana. Then Papa went missing and my world fell clear off its axle. It has been the absolute hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. Papa lost his soul mate when he lost Nana, so he went to Mississippi to live closer to his brothers.

Papa went missing on Feb. 4, 2004. My family and I are so very worried about him. My mom is so upset that she has given up hope. That is the one thing I will NEVER do.

My Papa means the world to me. So, please take a real close look at his picture and place his poster. Have you seen him or given him a ride somewhere? Please help us find him!

Papa if you happen to be reading this, please call me. I love and miss you very, very much.
